Provided is a holder in which an optical connector ferrule can be protect ed from a shock from the outside an so on and the fusion splicing of a short optical fiber can be performed without taking out the optical fiber from th e holder. The holder (51) houses the connector plug (10) equipped with the o ptical connector ferrule (7) and protects a short optical fiber (5) and a co nnector plug (10) mounted to the optical connector ferrule (7). Once the hol der is mounted onto a fusion splicer (71) for fusion splicing of the short o ptical fiber (5) to other optical fiber core (3), the short optical fiber (5 ) extending from a plug frame (9) is positioned at a fusing position.
