PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical vehicular suspension system. SOLUTION: In a system wherein a suspension spring, a hydraulic absorber having a function for changing a damping coefficient and for generating damping force in relation to the relative vibration between an upper part and a lower part of the spring, and an approaching and separating force generating device for generating approaching and separating force freely to control it are arranged in parallel with each other, in the case of increasing the damping coefficient of the absorber, before changing the damping coefficient with the damping coefficient changing mechanism (t<SB>1</SB>), damping force F is compensated by using the approaching and separating force (an oblique line) generated by the approaching and separating force generating device, and thereafter (t<SB>2</SB>), the control for increasing the damping coefficient is carried out by the damping coefficient changing mechanism, reducing the approaching and separating force. With this system, an impact applied to the absorber with operation of the damping coefficient changing mechanism can be restricted, and damping ability of the absorber can be smoothly increased.
