PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quality confirmation method for improved ground and quality confirmation instrument, accurately and simply confirming the mixture condition of soil and solidifying material in a construction site of a surface layer ground improvement. SOLUTION: First, soil 11 is removed from a scheduled area 60 for forming improved ground 17. A quality confirming instrument 10 is disposed in the scheduled area 60 so that the axial direction of the instrument body 20 is substantially vertical and also an opening 21 is directed toward the center of the scheduled area 60. In this state, back filling of mixed soil 13 obtained by mixing and stirring the soil 11 and the solidifying material 12 is performed for the scheduled area 60, and the mixed soil is contained in an inner void of the instrument body 20. Thus, in the scheduled area 60, the improved ground 17 is formed. The quality confirmation instrument 10 is provided with an earth retaining member 30, whereby the mixed soil 13 is extracted from the scheduled area 60 without dropping to confirm the mixing condition of the mixed soil 13.
