A friction stir welding system is provided to reduce the welding time by performing friction stir welding while automatically maintaining the welding angle in the normal direction along interfaces, carry out a welding operation more accurately by interpolating the welding angle in real time through an interpolation unit, and reduce noise and vibration by connecting a shaft and a spindle through a constant velocity joint. In a friction stir welding system installed on a welding head to form a solid state bonded joint by a combination of frictional heat and mechanical processing of a rotating tool and base metals, the friction stir welding system comprises a cross rail assembly(200) enabling an X-axis movement of the welding head, a bed assembly(100) enabling a Y-axis movement of the welding head, a welding head assembly(400) enabling a Z-axis movement of the welding head, and an operating panel assembly(300) for controlling the respective components, wherein the welding head assembly includes an interpolation unit for rotating the tool in the normal direction of interfaces to interpolate a welding angle of the rotating tool and the base metals.
