摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device capable of enhancing utilization efficiency of light from a vessel part. <P>SOLUTION: This light source device 100 is equipped with an arc tube 20 which has a vessel part 30 including a pair of built-in electrodes 42, 52 disposed along the optical axis 100ax of illumination and a pair of sealing parts 40, 50 extending on both sides of the vessel part 30, and in which the thickness of the vessel part 30 is formed so that it is perpendicular to the optical axis 100ax of illumination and it becomes the maximum in the vicinity of a virtual plane passing through the intermediate position P between a pair of the electrodes 42, 52, an ellipsoidal reflector disposed on the sealing part 40 side in the arc tube 20 while having a reflecting surface to reflect light from the vessel part 30 toward the region side to be illuminated, and a secondary mirror 60 disposed on the sealing part 50 side in the arc tube 20 while having a reflecting surface 64 to reflect light from the vessel part 30 to the vessel part 30. The reflecting surface 64 of the secondary mirror has a projecting shape in the receding direction from the vessel part 30 with respect to a virtual spherical surface B passing through the opening end parts 66, 67 of the reflecting surface 64 with the intermediate position P between a pair of the electrodes 42, 52 as a center. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p>
