PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing supporting structure of a rack-and-pinion type steering device for a vehicle capable of mounting a needle of a needle bearing supporting a pinion shaft into the inside of a housing. SOLUTION: A tip side of the pinion shaft 11 is supported in the housing 13 through the needle bearing 14 provided with no cage (full type roller), and an opposite side of it is supported through a four-point contact ball bearing. At least either of an outer ring 14a and the needle 14b of the needle bearing 14 is magnetized to hold the needle 14b on the outer ring 14a, and the needle 14b is inserted into the housing 13 while it is temporarily held by a working tool 20 and is assembled in a predetermined position. Then, the pinion shaft 11 is inserted after pulling out the working tool 20 and is supported by the needle 14b. A magnetism holding member 24 provided with a permanent magnet 26 may be arranged on an outer side of the housing 13 to hold the needle. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
