PILOT JET CONTROL METHOD AND DEVICE THEREFOR

Operation feeling and travel feeling are enhanced by avoiding a change in the number of steps of pilot jet during transient response of an engine. When pilot jet is started, a decision is made whether the most recent quantity of fuel injection Q exceeds an upper limit Qmax or not (S100). The number of pilot jet steps is fixed to a predetermined value if the upper limit Qmax is judged to be exceeded, otherwise a decision is made whether the quantity of fuel injection Q is lower than a lower limit Qmin or not (S104). If the quantity of fuel injection Q is judged to be lower than the lower limit Qmin, control for fixing the number of pilot jet steps is released and map control is started to determine the number of pilot jet steps based on a map (S106).
