LASER POWER CONTROL METHOD, AND LASER DRIVING DEVICE AND OPTICAL DISK DEVICE USING THE METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide laser power control to highly accurately set desired laser power without needing any high-speed and broadband circuit element even when the laser has nonlinear IL characteristics.

SOLUTION: The laser power control method includes: detecting emission power of a laser emission element; detecting a driving current for driving the laser emission element; updating an approximate expression indicating the driving-current to emission-power characteristics of the laser emission element based on the detected emission power and the detected driving current while increasing accuracy each time; calculating a command driving current value corresponding to target emission power from the updated approximate expression; and driving the laser emission element based on the calculated command driving current value to output target emission power.
