<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for obtaining (R)-hydroxynitrilelyase in an industrially utilizable amount at a low cost, and a means for industrially producing an optically active cyanhydrin. <P>SOLUTION: The DNA is the one of the following (a) or (b): (a) a DNA composed of a specific base sequence; and (b) a DNA composed of a base sequence having ≥99% homology with the base sequence, and encoding a protein having (R)-hydroxynitrilelyase activities. The (R)-hydroxynitrilelyase encoded by the DNA, and a method for producing the (R)-hydroxynitrilelyase are also provided.
