An auto tuning operation performing method is provided to download auto tuning information stored in another devices through an HDMI-CEC interface and share the information when an auto tuning operation is performed in a television, a DVD(Digital Video Disk) recorder and a set top box connected through the HDMI-CEC interface, thereby more effectively performing the auto tuning operation. If an auto tuning mode is set, a microcomputer searches a memory to confirm whether auto tuning is set to the microcomputer(S10). If not, it is confirmed whether connection with the other device is performed through an HDMI-CEC(High Definition Multimedia Interface-Consumer Electronics Control) interface. If so, it is determined whether there is a device having a tuner for receiving a television broadcasting signal among the other devices(S11,S12). If not, a series of auto tuning operations for separately storing broadcasting frequencies, where a predetermined value or more are detected, as an effective broadcasting channel is directly performed(S13,S14). If so, it is confirmed whether the auto tuning is set to a television or a set top box(S15). By requesting auto tuning information, an auto tuning information download operation for downing auto tuning information in the memory is performed(S16). After the auto tuning operation is completed, the auto tuning information is transmitted to the television or the set top box to share new auto tuning information(S17).
