<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent fusion of a workpiece and horse-chestnut when manufacturing a honeycomb structure by placing and burning the workpiece on the horse-chestnut. <P>SOLUTION: In a molding step, there is molded a column-shaped workpiece 20 with a multiplicity of pores provided therein. In a burning step, the workpiece 20 is placed on a horse-chestnut plane 40 to burn the workpiece 20. In the burning step, a powdered fusion-preventing material 50 which makes a contact area smaller than the case where the horse-chestnut plane 40 directly contact the workpiece 20 is provided between the horse-chestnut plane 40 and the workpiece 20.
