PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-board receiving device 20 capable of preventing interruption of video when switching is made between a high quality video and a low quality video, while suppressing power consumption to low. SOLUTION: The on-board receiving device 20 has a high quality video decoder 24 and a low quality video decoder 25. When an output source of video data is switched to the other decoder while the video data from one decoder are output to an external reproducing device 13, the other decoder is triggered to start decoding of video data. Then after a specified period has passed, the output source of video data is switched to the other decoder from one decoder, and that one decoder is stopped. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
