HYDROGEN GAS SEPARATION METHOD AND SEPARATION APPARATUS

A method of hydrogen gas separation for separating hydrogen gas from a mixed gas obtained by an autothermal reforming reaction of hydrocarbon raw material added with air. In this separation method, a cycle including an adsorption step and a desorption step is repeatedly carried out, wherein in the adsorption step, according to the PSA process carried out with the use of adsorption columns (A to C) packed with an adsorbent, introducing a mixed gas into adsorption columns to thereby cause the adsorbent to adsorb unwanted gas contained in the mixed gas and drawing out a product gas of high hydrogen gas concentration from the adsorption columns, and wherein in the desorption step, carrying out desorption of the unwanted gas from the adsorbent and drawing out the same from the adsorption columns. The adsorbent comprises active carbon base first adsorbent (D) of 10 to 50% filling ratio disposed on the upstream side in the direction of flow of the mixed gas and zeolite base second adsorbent (E) of 90 to 50% filling ratio disposed on the downstream side in the above direction of flow.
