PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray analyzer for reducing an exposure chance during work to the utmost in consideration of that there is fear for exposing a worker to X rays if X rays are emitted carelessly in the case where the composition substance of a measuring target is measured using the X-ray analyzer. SOLUTION: A range finder 30 detects a state that the position to be measured of a measuring target O is positioned at the crossing point C of the irradiation direction of a generator 2 and the detection direction of a detector 3 by detecting the distance from a reference position to the position to be measured and, in the case where this distance coincides with the distance up to the crossing point C, that is, in the case where measuring preparation is completed, the operation of the generator 2 is permitted. This constitution prevents X rays from being carelessly emitted from the generator 2 during measuring preparation work, thereby preventing the exposure of the worker to X rays.
