The device (1) has a drive motor acting together with an output wheel positioned on an axis (5) and another output wheel (7) connected with the former output wheel on one side and on other side with an actuating unit (8). A movement transmission unit (9) is provided between the output wheels and permits a temporal relative movement between the output wheels. The output wheels are provided with surfaces (11, 12), and the movement transmission unit is fixed at the surfaces. An independent claim is also included for a method for actuating a motor driven locking mechanism of a motor vehicle door.
