<p>A voltage is applied to an interdigitated electrode provided on a major surface (8a) of a ferroelectric single crystal substrate (8) turned into a single domain, and consequently a periodic polarization inversion structure (29) is made. The interdigitated electrode is removed, and the major surface (8a) is mechanically processed to remove the surface region (25), and thus a processed surface is formed. Then, an optical waveguide is fabricated on the substrate (8).</p> |
