<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate an amount of particulate accumulation in a filter without using a differential pressure sensor. <P>SOLUTION: An engine control unit (42) is equipped with a charging efficiency difference computing means for computing a difference between target charging efficiency and actual charging efficiency, a time change rate computing means for computing a time change rate of the charging efficiency difference from the computed charging efficiency difference, and a regeneration requirement output means for requiring regeneration of the filter when the computed charging efficiency difference exceeds a first predetermined value or when the time change rate of the computed charging efficiency difference exceeds a second predetermined value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
