The method involves determining whether all frequency signals represent harmonics of basic oscillation of ions. A determination is made whether oscillation signals posses an exactly integral fraction of a frequency to oscillation signals to be examined for detecting harmonics in a frequency spectrum. An instrument specific spectrum of harmonics is measured for an oscillating mass spectrometer, and all signals of an isotope group are conducted.
