A mono tube type shock absorber is provided to employ a sub-piston rod capable of delivering a working fluid through a hollow part to adjust a flow rate of the working fluid. A mono tube type shock absorber includes a cylinder(110), a piston rod(120), a free piston(140), a hollow part(121), a sub-piston rod(150). The cylinder is filled with a working fluid. The piston rod is movable in the cylinder. The piston valve(130), which controls the fluid movement into the upper and lower portion of the cylinder, is coupled with an end of the piston rod. The free piston is lifted by the pressure difference of the working fluid. The hollow part has an opened lower end, and communicates with upper and lower portions of the cylinder through a through hole(123) formed in the piston rod. The sub piston rod is inserted into the hollow part to adjust fluid passages(133,135) between the through hole and the hollow part.
