The device has a laser apparatus cutting a corneal tissue by a laser beam. A controller controls the apparatus towards a target point located in a pattern in a cornea (5) and selects the pattern such that a volume (18) is isolated in the cornea by an anterior cutting area (19). The cornea depleted around the volume has a preset radius of curvature satisfying an equation that is related to a radius of curvature of the cornea before the volume is removed, a refractive power of the cornea, a refractive power of spectacles, and a distance from a corneal apex to the spectacles. An independent claim is also included for a method for correcting a defective vision of an eye of a patient.
