A metal noggin 8 is in the form of a U -section channel, and may be fitted to the edge of an insulation board 7 and nailed 11 to a joist or rafter 10 as shown in (inverted) Fig 3. Plasterboard 12 is then fitted using drywall screws 9 through the metal ; this ceiling meets the recently altered Building Regulations insulation requirement. As shown in Fig 7, two noggins are used back to back where boards meet. |
