An inspection system (10) and method of operating the same are disclosed herein. The inspection system (10) may be configured to asymmetrically balance a magneti c field (194, 195) generated by an inductive sensor (110). Additionally, relays and capacitors (171, 172) used to tune the inductive sensor (110) to a desired resonance frequency may be geometrically arranged to minimize electrical interference generated by operation of the relays and capacitors. The method of operating the inspecti on system may include asymmetrically balancing a magnetic field to improve performance of the inspection system.
