A braking power control method for a hybrid electric vehicle is provided to prevent the vehicle from rolling back by the sudden reduction of braking power, by taking the time for sufficiently compensating regenerative braking power and to improve a simple logic for driving efficiency and stability. A braking power control method for a hard type hybrid electric vehicle adopting an EBS(Electronic Braking System) comprises the steps of: turning on a brake; judging whether a gear is in a neutral stage or not; and calculating target regenerative torque if the gear is in a neutral stage, and then executing a vehicle braking operation by reflecting the target regenerative torque on braking torque. The target regenerative torque is calculated by multiplying desired regenerative torque and a reduction factor.
