Enzymatic preparation of poly-(thia-alkanedicarboxylic acid-co-alkan(poly)ols) (I), i.e. linear copolymeric polycarboxylic acid esters with thioether functions, involves reacting polyfunctional thia-alkanedicarboxylic acids (II) and alkanediols (III) in presence of lipases under stirring at elevated temperature for a long period under vacuum.
