A video displayer having a lighting device and its irradiation method are provided to allow a user to connect a video displayer and an external device easily in dark. A lighting unit(160) irradiates light to a rear portion having a terminal for at least one of input and output with a connected external device. A controller(170) controls the irradiation operation of the lighting unit. A detecting unit(140) is positioned near the terminal provided on the rear portion of an image displayer, and if an object is moved within a certain distance, the detecting unit detects it and outputs a detect signal. A manipulating unit(130) is provided at one side of the image displayer, generates a corresponding input signal according to a user manipulation, and transfers the same to the controller. If the input signal is transferred from the manipulating unit, the controller controls the lighting unit to irradiate light.
