<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for cleaning an exhaust gas which can burn a PM of a diesel engine exhaust gas at a low temperature and reduces the deterioration by heat generation during the PM burning (i.e. has high heat resistance). <P>SOLUTION: The composite oxide for a catalyst for cleaning an exhaust gas is composed of Ce, Bi, R and oxygen, and when assuming that the mole ratio of Ce, Bi, R is Ce:Bi:R=(1-x-y):x:y, it satisfies 0<x≤0.4 and 0<y<1.0. This composite oxide has an X-ray diffraction peak that corresponds to the fluorite type structure. In the composite oxide, it is exemplified that contains one or two kinds of Pr and Tb as the R. The catalyst for cleaning an exhaust gas is preferred as a PM burning catalyst. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
