A method of operating a solid oxide fuel cell by a fuel that contains heavy hydrocarbons. In the method the fuel is, prior to its delivery into a fuel cell, led into a first reactor (4), in which the heavy hydrocarbons are degraded into carbon monoxide and hydrogen and thereafter the fuel is led into a second reactor (5), in which the hydrogen and carbon monoxide produced in the first reactor are brought to react and form methane and eventually, the fuel containing methane is fed into the solid oxide fuel cell (6). |
