<p>A novel luminescent metal complex. The metal complex has a composition of the formula [(Pt<SUP>II</SUP>)<SUB>2</SUB>(M<SUP>I</SUP>)<SUB>2</SUB>(X)<SUB>2</SUB>(L)<SUB>4</SUB>(LH)<SUB>2</SUB>]. M<SUP>I</SUP> is Ag<SUP>I</SUP>, Au<SUP>I</SUP> or Cu<SUP>I</SUP>; X is Cl, Br or I; L is the structure of the formula (1); and LH is the structure of the formula (2).</p>
