<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically remove dust such as paper powders deteriorating the detection level of a sensor portion. <P>SOLUTION: A label gap (only pasteboard part between labels) which becomes a standard position of a label to be printed during carrying of the label on a pasteboard which is a printing medium is detected by a paper sensor 9. Carrying action by a motor control portion 16 and printing action by a printing control portion 17 is controlled by a CPU 11 according to the detection result.
