PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a novolac-type phenol resin having a narrow molecular weight distribution with efficiency, leaving little amount of unreacted phenol components. SOLUTION: The present invention provides the method for producing the novolac-type phenol resin by reacting a phenol compound with an aldehyde compound using a heteropoly acid as a catalyst. The method comprises the step of mixing a first liquid phase comprising the phenol compound or a solution containing the phenol compound, a second liquid phase comprising a catalyst solution containing the heteropoly acid, and the aldehyde compound with one another. The heteropoly acid is composed of at least one poly atom selected from W, Mo, V and Nb and at least one heteroatom selected from P, As, Si, Ge and B. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
