PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive decorative sheet base paper capable of being suitably used also for decorative sheet used for a counter top or a table, etc., which is required to have especially a small curvature radius, having high wet paper strength and excellent in a post form property without impairing the appearance. SOLUTION: The decorative sheet base paper includes a fibrous material, an inorganic filler and an alkaline salt, preferably a phosphoric acid-based or boric acid-based alkaline salt, and the amount of alkaline salt carried is 0.3-3.0 wt.% based on the decorative sheet base paper.
