PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner capable of automatically maintaining a fine dust filter for removing dust. SOLUTION: This vacuum cleaner is provided with: an operation changeover switch 6 for changing over the operation of an electric blower 2; a secondary filter part 5 having a micro filter 14 removing fine dust passing through a primary filter part 13 positioned in a downstream side of a dust collector chamber 4 for collecting the dust; an air duct 19 formed below a cover 16 covering the secondary filter part; a dust return port 18 provided below a wall face of the cover and communicating with the air duct; a shutter 20 opening/closing the dust return port interlocked with the operation of the dust removal means 25 for removing the dust stuck to the micro filter; a shutter opening/closing detection means 24 for detecting the opening/closing state of the shutter; and a microcomputer 29, when the operation changeover switch is turned on, actuating the dust removal means, when the shutter opening/closing detection means detects the shutter closing state, stopping the operation of the dust removal means and actuating the electric blower.
