PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a license management method and system capable of improving the application efficiency of personal computers (PCs). SOLUTION: The license management system in which a license server 1 is connected to a plurality of PCs 3 and at least one PC 4 having a node lock license through a network 2 is provided with: a means for providing a maximum value expressing the number of PCs allowed to be simultaneously used to the license server 1; a usable PC count management table 1a for borrowing use rights from the node lock license 4 and setting a value obtained by adding the number of borrowed use rights from the node lock license to the maximum simultaneously usable count as a maximum usable count; and a PC management means for managing PCs connected to the network 2 within the range of maximum usable count while referring to the PC usable count management table 1a.
