PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical semiconductor device capable of suppressing a mounting region.

SOLUTION: The optical semiconductor device comprises: an optical semiconductor element 21; an internal lead 11 provided with the optical semiconductor element 21 and electrically connected with the optical semiconductor element 21; a sealing resin 31 which is provided with an insertion hole 35 comprising a side face composed of a convex curved surface part 35b of an upper half part and a plane part 35a of a lower half part continuing to the curved surface part 35b and the bottom surface of the lower half part facing the surface of a functional region 23 where the light of the optical semiconductor element 21 is emitted or made incident, seals the optical semiconductor element 21 and the internal lead 11 and is transparent to emitted or incident light; and a surface mountable external terminal 13 connected to the internal lead 11.
