PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set heating temperature of a recording material without being affected by a characteristic of the recording material and a kind of an ink by a method wherein a bleeding amount of an ink dot is digitized, thereby automatically carrying out judgment of the bleeding amount of the ink dot without variation. SOLUTION: This recorder comprises a heating means 30 for heating a recording material P, a dot formation detecting means 31 for detecting a formation condition of an ink dot D, and a control means 32 for setting the heating temperature of the heating means 30. Before performing the recording, test recording about an identical recording material P is carried out. The heating temperature of the recording material P is set from the judgment result of the bleeding amount of the ink dot D obtained by the dot formation detecting means 31.
