A system and a method for controlling a TV view time are provided to help parents stimulate their children, who are not mature enough to have judgment, to study, and adjust a TV view time of the children. When a user turns on a TV(S100), the TV displays an OSD(On Screen Display) checking whether to use a point on an output unit through an OSD processing unit under the control of a controller(S110). If the user inputs a signal for approving the use of a point, the controller obtains a point accumulated in a point storage server via an education site connected with an Internet connection unit(S120). The controller calculates the stored point to a corresponding time(S130). The controller sets a timer according to the calculated time(S140). The user views the TV for time calculated according to the accumulated point(S150). When a pre-set time lapses, the TV is automatically turned off(S160).
