<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an element from being damaged by a dew condensation, and also to prevent a failure such as a degradation in the sensitivity from occurring. <P>SOLUTION: A gas detection chamber 26 comprises a cylindrical section 25 and a base section 35, and is provided on an end face in a case 21 of the gas sensor 1 in the thickness direction. A plate heater 36 is installed on the surface 35A of the base section 35 within the gas detection chamber 26. A stay 33 is fixed to the base section 35 with a terminal block 38 of the stay 33 mounted to a through-hole 39 formed in the plate heater 36, and positioned so as to place a protrusion position at the tip of the stay 33 within the gas detection chamber 26 in a predetermined position.
