<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drive a plurality of mechanism parts of an image forming apparatus by one comparatively compact motor. <P>SOLUTION: The coupling order of respective clutches 2 is determined on the basis of a mechanism side starting torque value, a mechanism side driving torque value, a motor side starting torque value and a motor side driving torque value. The coupling timing of the respective clutches 2 is adjusted on the basis of the respective torque values. For example, the mechanism part (A)3 having the largest mechanism side starting torque value is coupled with the motor 1 through the clutch (A)2 first to be started. Next, the mechanism part (B)3 having the second largest mechanism side starting torque value is coupled therewith through the clutch (B)2 to be started according to the coupling timing. Thus, the plurality of mechanism parts 3 such as a printing medium conveying part are started by one motor 1.
