Device for focusing a laser beam comprises a lens group (22, 23) which is mounted so that it can be moved in the axial direction and a further lens group (24) fixed in relation to the other lens group. The moving lens group is structured to adjust the focus position in the axial direction while maintaining the same magnification. An independent claim is also included for a method for focusing a laser beam using the above device.
