<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system capable of appropriately carrying out impedance measurement and scavenging control of a fuel cell at stopping of the fuel cell system. <P>SOLUTION: In the fuel cell system equipped with a control part 50 to carry out monitoring and control of a state of the fuel cell 1, the control part 50 carries out a scavenging treatment to scavenge water in the fuel cell 1 to the outside after stopping supply of a fuel gas to the fuel cell 1, and measures the impedance of the fuel cell 1 intermittently in the scavenging treatment of the fuel cell 1.
