PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly realize the display of still images and the transfer of image data in a freeze operation. SOLUTION: When a freeze button is operated, pixel signals for one frame obtained by one time of exposure are separated into the pixel signals of odd-numbered lines and the pixel signals of even-numbered lines and read in the order according to a read system different from the one for moving images. Processing including color interpolation or the like is executed in a synthetic circuit to the read pixel signals of the odd-numbered lines and the even-numbered lines, and still image signals for display corresponding to the still images to be displayed are generated. In 2 field period L before the still image signals for the display are generated and outputted, a switch is switched and the pixel signals of the odd-numbered lines and the even-numbered lines are transmitted to a recorder.
