LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THEREOF

An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and its control method are provided to prevent a lamp from being delayed when it is driven to be turned on in a dark state. A lamp(50) is disposed at a rear side of a liquid crystal panel(20) and provides light to a rear surface of the liquid crystal panel. An inverter(90) supplies the voltage for driving the lamp or cuts off supplying of voltage. A temperature sensing unit(63) senses the temperature of the lamp. A timing unit(93) measures a duration during which the lamp is in an OFF state after a voltage supply to the lamp is cut off. An inverter controller(95) controls the inverter to provide a lamp stabilization voltage to the lamp based on measurement values of the temperature sensing unit and the timing unit. If the measurement value of the temperature sensing unit is 0°C of if the measurement value of the timing unit is more than three days, the inverter controls the inverter to supply the lamp stabilization voltage to the lamp.
