An apparatus for guiding a cross bar of a roof carrier for a vehicle is provided to facilitate movement of a cross bar by minimizing friction between the cross bar and a side rail. An apparatus for guiding a cross bar of a roof carrier for a vehicle comprises side rails(200), cross bars(300) and housings(400). The side rails are installed at both sides of a roof panel of a vehicle and have opened channels. The cross bars are installed between the side rails. The housings are installed at the end portion of the cross bar, and have connection sections(410) inserted into the channels of the side rails. The connection section slides along the side rail while being locked with the side rail. Guide wheels(510) roll and rotate while being in contact with the outer surface of the side rail.
