The device has handles (1) rotatable around a pivot axis (2), and a permanent magnet ring (5) pivotably driven around the pivot axis by the handles. Hall sensors (8, 8', 8'') are firmly arranged in a plane parallel to other plane, and signals are fed to an evaluation unit for determining a rotating position of the handles. The hall sensors are arranged at radial distance to the pivot axis and at angle distance to each other in the area of a magnetic field of the diametrically magnetized permanent magnet ring. The hall sensors are arranged on a printed circuit board (9).
