A method for setting and changing a channel in a digital television is provided to construct different channel maps about watching possible channels and watching impossible channels according to a scramble module. When searching an auto channel in a digital TV, all channels are tuned and the broadcasting signals are searched(S11). Thereafter, a process for discriminating whether the searched channel is a scrambled channel is performed(S13). According to the discriminating result of the channel, the resulting channels are separated and stored in the first and second memories(S14,S15). When the search of broadcasting signals related to the entire channels is finished, the first and second channel maps are constructed according to the channel information stored in the first and second memories(S17). A process for discriminating whether there is a request signal of the channel change is performed(S19). When there is a request signal of the channel change, a process for discriminating whether there is a scramble module is performed(S20). According to the existence of the scramble module, a channel change is performed by one between the first and second maps(S21,S22).
