The invention relates to an extrusion die having mold plates surrounding the casting cross-section, in which cooling canals extend, wherein the mold plates are connected to a water box by means of screw elements, and the scre w elements are made of securing bolts having a threaded shaft, which can be screwed into securing threads in the mold plate. In order to achieve uniform cooling in such an extrusion die, the securing threads with the longitudina l center axes thereof are each disposed such that they extend between two ad jacent coolant channels, wherein the diameter of each threaded bore is large r than the distance between two adjacent cooling channels, and the bores for the securing threads end at a distance to the bottom of the cooling channel s, limiting the screw-in depth of the securing bolts.
