PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF MODIFIED CONJUGATED DIENE POLYMERS, MODIFIED CONJUGATED DIENE POLYMERS PRODUCED BY THE PROCESS, RUBBER COMPOSITIONS, AND TIRES

The invention provides a process for the production of modified conjugated diene polymers which are excellent in the interaction between rubber and carbon black and/or silica and therefore exhibit improved dispersion of these fillers and which are reduced in heat build-up and are excellent in fracture characteristics, wear resistance and quality stability; modified conjugated diene polymers produced by the process; rubber compositions containing the polymers; and tires made by using the compositions and having the above properties. A process for the production of modified conjugated diene polymers which comprises the step (a) of modifying aconjugated diene polymer having active ends by reacting the active ends with a compound which has in the molecule a protected primary amino group and a bifunctional silicon atom to which one hydrocarbyloxy group and one reactive group are bonded and the step (b) of condensing the resulting polymer through the participation of the compound in the presence of a titanium-containing condensation accelerator consisting of a titanium compound; modified conjugated diene polymers produced by the process; rubber compositions containing the polymers; and tires made by using the compositions and having the above properties.
