In a process for producing an inorganic fiber made heat insulation tube, the wind-up operation includes the steps of supporting and rotating a hollow cylindrical core metal having its surface provided with a multiplicity of pores; heating the core metal; introducing vacuum in the interior of the core metal to thereby cause an inorganic fiber mat to be drawn near the core metal by vacuuming and thereafter, while compressing the inorganic fiber mat, rotating the core metal at given rotational speed so that the inorganic fiber mat is wound round the core metal to thereby obtain a tubular matter; and delivering the tubular matter to a position where a subsequent contour restraining operation is carried out.
