In a data packet transmitting/receiving system having transmission and reception buffers, in order to effectively use the resource of the reception buffer, avoiding, as much as possible, the occurrence of unused areas in the capacity of the reception buffer, the number of data packets that can be received by the reception buffer is dynamically changed in accordance with the volume of the data packets to be transmitted/received. This can provide a similar performance to the conventional one with a less resource than in a case of the conventional control, while preventing data packets from being discarded due to an overflow of the reception buffer.
