The present invention relates to an input device which allows all the cha racters which it is desired to input to be arranged in a minimum input regio n so as to be suitable for miniaturization, as well as allows each of the ar ranged characters to be inputted through only one-input operation so as to e nable rapid and correct input of a character. The input device comprises: a base having an input region; one or more sensing sections provided at the in put region for sensing a contact with the input region or a contact movement to the input region; and a control section for extracting data correspondin g to each input operation from a memory (not shown) and inputting the extrac ted data, according to the position of a contact point or the movement direc tion of the contact point sensed by the sensing section relative to a refere nce position indicating section provided at the input region. |
